The Ambulance Tasmania Mechanical Restraint Device Set – Premium Medical & Healthcare Restraint System  is a purpose‑built medical and healthcare restraint system developed in collaboration with Ambulance Tasmania. While based on the NSW Ambulance MRDSET, this version has been customized to meet Tasmania’s operational requirements, including updated color coding and component variations.

Constructed from high‑quality, durable neoprene, the system provides both strength and patient comfort during restraint. The wrist cuffs are applied by wrapping the neoprene around the patient’s wrist and securing it with a 50 mm Velcro loop‑and‑hook closure. The cuff is then tightened using the lime tether strap, which threads through the D‑ring and slide for controlled adjustment.

The waist belt is fitted around the patient and secured firmly using a 50 mm webbing strap and 50 mm side‑release buckle. Ankle cuffs are applied in the same manner as the wrist cuffs, with the ankle stretcher strap attached to the foot of the bed or stretcher to stabilize lower‑limb movement.

Once the patient is positioned on a bed, trolley, or stretcher, the wrist cuffs are connected to the waist belt, ensuring controlled upper‑limb restraint. The feet are then secured to the ankle strap. The under‑stretcher strap is threaded beneath the bed and attached to the waist belt via a side‑release buckle, then tightened using the webbing strap to prevent upward or lateral movement.

This system is specifically designed for highly agitated, aggressive, or behaviorally disturbed patients who may pose a risk of self‑harm or harm to others. When applied correctly, it enables medical staff and carers to intervene safely, administer treatment, and maintain clinical control while upholding patient dignity and minimizing injury risk.

The complete kit includes twelve components, all of which can be purchased individually or modified to meet evolving clinical needs.
