Our Process

Our comprehensive reconditioning process includes:

  • Inspecting all components for wear and damage.
  • Replacing the webbing with AS/NZS1753-certified, UV-protected webbing.
  • Colour matching to the original (or closest available) webbing.
  • Replacing any damaged hardware where necessary.

Seatbelts that have been in an accident cannot be repaired and must be replaced with a new seatbelt assembly.

If you’re customising or restoring your vehicle, our team can:

  • Supply a range of coloured webbing options to complement your vehicle’s interior.
  • Adjust seat belt length for modified seating layouts (on request)

Service Options

  1. DIY Removal & Drop-Off
If you’re comfortable removing the belt yourself, you can drop it off at our facility — or have your mechanic remove it for you.
  2. Interstate Service
For customers outside Victoria, simply post your seat belt to us with your contact details enclosed.
  3. Pre-Dispatch Requirements
    • All seat belts must be thoroughly cleaned and blown out prior to dispatch to Hemco.
    • Pre-tensioned seat belts must be securely packed in a parcel box with adequate protective packaging to prevent any damage during transit.
  4. Turnaround Time
Once received, we will complete the re-webbing and return your seat belt within 2–3 business days.

Please plan and ensure your vehicle is not operated without a seat belt fitted while yours is being serviced.

Which Seat Belt Do I Have?

Non-Pretensioner Seat Belt

A non-pretensioner seat belt is a conventional mechanical restraint system.

Features include:

  • No electrical connections.
  • Not connected to the vehicle's Airbag or SRS (Supplementary Restraint System).
  • Mechanical inertia locking retractor that locks during sudden braking or impact.
  • Commonly fitted to older vehicles and many classic vehicles.

Pretensioner Seat Belt

A pretensioner seat belt forms part of the vehicle's Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and is designed to tighten the belt immediately before occupant movement during a collision.

Pretensioner seat belts include:

  • Electrical connection to the vehicle's Airbag/SRS control module.
  • Activation by crash sensors during an impact.
  • Pyrotechnic or mechanical pretensioning mechanism.
  • Commonly fitted to most modern vehicles.

Please Note: Pretensioner seat belts require additional handling and inspection due to their integrated safety components.

Prestige & Exotic Vehicle Seat Belts

Some prestige and luxury vehicles utilise more complex seat belt systems that require specialised handling, additional labour, and manufacturer-specific procedures during the re-webbing process.

Examples include BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Range Rover, Ferrari, Audi, Jaguar, Polestar, Volvo, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Lexus, Tesla, and other prestige or exotic vehicle manufacturers.
