HEMCO General Purpose Occupant Restraints
HEMCO General Purpose Seat Belts are certified to AS/NZS 2596 and are primarily intended for the replacement or retrofitting of seat belts in older vehicles, classic cars, vintage vehicles, hot rods, street rods, kit cars, race support vehicles, agricultural equipment, industrial machinery, and other applications where ADR-specific seat belts are not required.
Important: AS/NZS 2596 General Purpose Seat Belts must not be installed in seating positions fitted with airbags. Vehicles equipped with airbags require seat belts that comply with the applicable ADR requirements for that vehicle.
AS/NZS 2596 or ADR 4?
Understanding which standard applies to your vehicle is important.
ADR 4 (ADR 4/06) is the Australian Design Rule applicable to new vehicle manufacture and the first-time registration of imported vehicles. ADR-compliant seat belts are engineered and tested specifically for the vehicle’s seating geometry and restraint system.
For low-volume vehicle manufacture or imported vehicles, seat belts manufactured and certified to AS/NZS 2596, displaying a recognised licence number, are accepted under ADR requirements in many approved applications.
Both ADR 4/06 and AS/NZS 2596 are based on the internationally recognised European ECE R16 seat belt standard.

Our standard webbing colour is Black, with an additional 19 colour options available to order, allowing you to match or customise your vehicle’s interior.
As coloured webbing is manufactured to order, please choose carefully, as custom colours cannot be returned due to change of mind.
