Anti-Submarine Velcro Tether Strap (Groin Strap) – Special Needs Harness

The Anti-Submarine Velcro Strap, commonly referred to as the groin strap, is an additional safety feature used with a special needs harness.

• Purpose: The strap prevents the occupant from sliding forward and “submarining” under the lap belt section of the harness during travel or sudden movement.

• Design: It is secured between the occupant’s legs and attaches to the harness using a strong Velcro fastening system, providing both security and ease of adjustment.

• Function: By holding the lap belt firmly across the hips, it helps maintain correct harness positioning and reduces the risk of the harness riding up.

• Safety Benefit: Ensures the occupant remains safely seated and supported, improving overall restraint effectiveness in both everyday use and emergency situations.

• Ease of Use: The Velcro design allows care givers or support staff to quickly fit and adjust the strap as needed.

This strap is an important accessory for enhancing the stability and safety of the harness system, particularly for users who may have low muscle tone, limited sitting balance, or a tendency to slide down in their seat.
