HEMCO General Purpose Occupant Restraints
General Purpose Seatbelts are AS/NZS-2596 certified seatbelts and is a category of seatbelt aimed mainly at replacement or retrofitting to older vehicles. Note that a General Purpose seat belt cannot be used in a seating position which is fitted with Airbags.
AS/NZS2596 or ADR4?
ADR4 (ADR4-06 current edition) is a standard requirement for new build vehicles and first time registration in Australia of imported vehicles. For large volume production/importation, the ADR4 requires seatbelts to be designed and tested to fit the specific geometry of the vehicle.
For low volume manufacture or importation, under ADR4 seatbelts manufactured and tested to AS/NZS 2596, with a recognised license number on the tag, are an accepted alternative.
ADR4-06 and AS/NZS 2596 are both based upon the European standard ECE16.
Seatbelt Range
Hemco's range includes angled retractors, to fit a wider variety of vehicles. You can check our product certification for each of our seatbelts at the SAI Global website (License SMK0895).
Standard colour is black. Coloured belts are made to order so choose your colour carefully as there is no refund. Contact us for a set of colour samples as computer screens may not display the colour accurately.

Your selection of Stalk or Webbing Buckle is included with your choice of Seatbelt.

All HEMCO buckles are available with electric switch.
To select your buckle:
- Stalks - length of stalk from centre of hole to top of buckle; and mounting position ie 'floor' (45º lug) or 'side of tunnel' (straight lug). Also available with 90º lug.
- Webbing - The standard is adjustable webbing buckle, if fixed length is preferred, measure length from centre of hole to the top of the plate.
